$5 will pay for 5 lbs of fish for a seal (they eat between 8-10 lbs per day). Medication can often run upwards of $25 a day. $76 will pay for a diagnostic test to determine which medication they will need to heal. Seals stay an average of 6 weeks or more in rehab, and we estimate that they average $2,000 in expenses for each seal. In the past 5 years, we have averaged 26 seals a year in rehab. Once their diagnostic tests come back as normal and they have a good weight, they go right back to the sea. Our goal is for $10,000 to help 5 of those seals that will come into our care.
