Nature is our classroom as your group learns about the animals and plants that are native to our New Jersey beaches, bays and estuaries. Your family will meet MMSC's Educators on one of the most beautiful and diverse natural habitats on Brigantine Island. During this 45-minute interactive program, we will guide you on a short walk along the dunes as you learn about the dune ecosystem and the birds, mammals and plants that call it home. Once you arrive at our outdoor mobile classroom, you'll get your feet wet as we teach you how to identify local invertebrates, fish, reptiles, and other marine life. You will learn about the biggest threats these creatures face and how YOU can help them. Our Educators will teach you how to assist stranded Diamondback terrapins and Horseshoe crabs, two abundant local species that frequently need a helping hand. Finally, learn more about MMSC's mission, and what to do if you spot a stranded marine mammal or sea turtle.
Only one family will be booked per Family time slot.
$50 program fee includes up to five (5) people.
Up to seven (7) additional program participants may be added at $10 per person.
Details on how to add additional program participants will be sent after booking. Additional program participants must be paid for at least one week in advance of the program date. We cannot accept add-on's the day of the program. Our Educators cannot accept money on the beach.

Children must be at least 5 years old to participate in programs.
MMSC does not facilitate "drop off" summer programs for children. Parents or guardians are expected to supervise their children at all times, both in and out of the water. This is a hands-on program and parents or guardians are expected to be in the water along side their children at all times.
A confirmation letter will be emailed within five days of booking your program with your specific program location on the beach in Brigantine. Very important- please make sure to enter your preferred email address in the web form if different from the email used to book your program! Otherwise your letter will be sent to the email address used during the booking and payment process.
Please meet the MMSC Educators at the location specified in your confirmation letter five minutes prior to your designated program start time to fill out your waivers.
Please be courteous and don't approach the previous program group while they are finishing up with their experience. We want every family to have an enjoyable private experience that is all their own.
Equipment is sanitized between each program.
The MMSC Sea Life Museum and gift shop is open 10am-2pm Tuesday- Sunday through the summer. Be sure to leave time in your day to visit before or after your program!
To ensure a safe and comfortable experience, please bring sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, hats, towels, change of shoes and plenty of water.
Foot coverings are required at all times during the program including in the water. Water shoes or SCUBA booties are best to protect your feet, flip flops are discouraged as they are prone to ripping off and being carried away by the waves.
During this program, guests will be standing in water no deeper than mid-calf level. If you feel more comfortable with your child wearing a life jacket or swim floaties, please make sure to bring your own as we do not provide them.
Participants are responsible for having their own beach tags for every member of their group. MMSC cannot predict when tag checkers will be out. For questions about purchasing beach tags and which beaches will have badge checkers on your program date, please visit the Brigantine Beach Tags page:
