The Marine Mammal Stranding Center offers fun, interactive, and educational summer programs.

ALL PROGRAMS REQUIRE PRE-REGISTRATION.  Most have participant number limitations.  Register Early.

Mock Stranding Program:

Come join us for a hands-on lesson that teaches you what our Stranding Technicians do here at the Center!  Learn about some of the fascinating animals that pass through New Jersey, why they strand, and how we help them. Together, all participants will perform a simulated rescue using a model animal (dolphin or sea turtle) and real equipment on the beach!

Please note: these are not drop-off programs. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES. Adults do not have to pay for the program/participate, but each child participant must be registered.

Ages: 7+

Seining:

Bring the whole family to the beach to learn about the fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and other critters in our bays!  The program includes a short, guided beach walk to introduce some of the plants and animals that live in New Jersey and then a chance to use our seining nets in the water to collect small animals.

*We STRONGLY recommend that all participants wear water shoes for this program*

Please note: these are not drop-off programs. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES. Adults do not have to pay for the program/participate, but each child participant must be registered with program fee paid. If adults would like to participate, they must also register/pay the program fee.

Ages: All ages may attend, but active seiners must be 7+
